Remember those halcyon childhood days where nothing else mattered except for how often you could get Mom to take you out for your favourite chocolate milkshake? Well, we wanted to capture and bottle up (or rather, in this case, wrap up) that feeling so you can tap into it forever. So we developed a new Amajoya Toffee Chews range, featuring delicious strawberry, banana, and chocolate milkshake flavours.
To give you a peek behind the scenes of what went into creating the range, and why we think you’re going to love our Amajoya Toffee Chews, we asked Amajoya Category Marketing Manager Liezel Fourie to share a few insights.
What Makes Amajoya Toffee Chews Unique?
First of all, we worked hard to create a product that’s playful, so people can feel a sense of fun when enjoying them. We also created a texture and a taste combination that isn’t available on the market at all. So it’s a completely different experience for toffee or chews fans.
One of the standout features is that we use real ingredients: real butter and real dairy. As with all our candies and toffees, the Amajoya Toffee Chews are made from quality ingredients not often found in these kind of sweets. Also, the milkshake flavours we’ve chosen aren’t available in any other chews or toffee range in the market.
Finally, there’s the simple fact that our Amajoya Toffee Chews are so shareable. I think people will start having conversations about them and the way they make you feel.
Tell Us About That Emotional Connection
Our Amajoya Toffee Chews evoke a wonderful emotional connection to memories. When we came up with the initial recipes, I didn’t tell anyone what we were experimenting with. I would give them the product and simply say, “Taste this and tell me what you think.”
And they’d go, “Oh this tastes like … a strawberry milkshake.” Then they’d spontaneously say things like, “I remember the first time…” or “I remember when my mom and I used to…”
The Amajoya Toffee Chews brought out a memory. And that’s really what we want this product to do.
How Did You Decide on the Three Milkshake Flavours?
There was quite a bit of research. We always start with real people in mind. Then we look at what kind of trends are happening in the marketplace and analyse what products are already on shelf. From there, the idea of building this fun and flavourful experience was born.
As you can imagine, we held extensive tastings to fine tune the recipe and make sure that it stays true to what we wanted to deliver. This is core to what we do. If it doesn’t test well, we simply won’t make it.
As for the soft pastel colours, these were based on what we felt people would naturally associate with chocolate, strawberry or banana.
